Yen Tu Pagoda is a special temple located on the top of Yen Tu mountain in Quang Ninh province and Bac Giang province. Yen Tu Pagoda is special not only because of its topography or beautiful scenery, but also because this is where Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong practiced and founded a Buddhist sect called Zen Truc Lam Yen Tu.
Yen Tu mountain has long been called by many names such as: Tuong Son (Elephant Mountain), Bach Van Son (White Cloud Mountain), Phu Van Son (Floating Cloud Mountain), Linh Son (Sacred Mountain), An Tu… History books have recorded that Yen Tu is considered “the 4th blessed land of Giao Chau”. Many old documents agree that “In the 3rd year of Tu Duc, Yen Tu mountain was listed in the list of famous mountains, recorded in the worshiping dictionary”. Based on absorbing and inheriting the quintessence of Indian Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism, Truc Lam Zen School is a Zen lineage of entering the world, imbued with national identity.

At the time when Truc Lam Zen sect developed at its peak, Yen Tu Mountain region included a large area with typical Buddhist architectural works: Long Dong, Hoa Yen, Van Tieu, Quynh Lam, Ho Thien, Ngoa Van, Thanh Mai, Con Son and other works in the mountains and forests west of Yen Tu in Bac Giang province today.

Yen Tu forest preserves a lot of plant and animal genetic resources: Among 206 animal species, there are more than 20 rare and precious vertebrate species listed in the Vietnam Red Book, such as the large flying squirrel, the snub-nosed langur, the horned frog. , prickly frogs, crocodile lizards… out of 830 species of plants, there are 38 particularly rare species such as: green iron, flower slices, honeysuckle, bamboo pine, forest arhat, whu Huong, kim Giao… rows of pine trees, giant trees, and gardens planted by people in the past for more than seven hundred years. Vast bamboo forest, yellow apricot blossom, blooming chrysanthemum … The natural scenery changes in four rich seasons. Legend has it that since ancient times, Yen Tu mountain is considered as the Realm of Tien Buddha – the place where people cultivate and attain Buddhahood. Master Yen Ky Sinh from more than 2000 years ago came to this mountain to gather medicinal plants, practice the elixir of immortality, cure diseases to save people, cultivate and attain enlightenment. When he died, he turned into a stone statue, so the mountain has its name today. is “Yen Tu”.

Hue Quang Tower is 7m high, including 5 floors assembled from green stone blocks. The outside is elaborately carved with a smooth, soft and extremely ecstatic wave pattern. The tower is decorated in the typical architectural style of the Tran Dynasty with 102 lotus petals and soft vines. Around the tower are hundreds of years old trees standing out to shield the stupa from wind and rain. With majestic and ancient beauty, Hue Quang tower is a certain attraction not to be missed when traveling to Yen Tu Quang Ninh.
Located at an altitude of 535m above sea level, Hoa Yen Pagoda, formerly known as Phu Van, has a romantic implication of smoke and clouds. Traveling to Yen Tu, visitors cannot ignore this Ca pagoda. In the past, this place was a small temple for King Tran Nhan Tong to preach. Today, this place is a tourist attraction, pilgrimage of Buddhist followers to the Buddha land, with the natural landscape of pure and peaceful heaven and earth. Or visit An Ky Sinh which is a natural rock shaped like a monk with folded hands respectfully.
